City Council member Christopher Marte Visits LES Harm Reduction Center

On Thursday, July 31, City Council member Christopher Marte visited Alliance LES Harm Reduction Center to see our life-saving work in action. We discussed the importance of our syringe exchange program, medication-assisted treatment (Suboxone), comprehensive care management to help our participants manage complex health challenges, and our daily wellness groups. At a time when federal support for harm reduction and essential services for low-income New Yorkers has been slashed, local and state funding for our essential services is so essential, and we were glad to be able to share some of our program successes with the Council Member.

On the same day, Alliance helped lead a rally on Staten Island to protect housing protections for people with HIV/AIDS.

Pharmacy Summer BBQ at CASA

On July 17, our Pharmacy Access Program team at Alliance CASA Washington Heights brought the heat on with a fabulous Summer BBQ. Alliance participants—as well as community neighbors—gathered for an afternoon of great food, music, and community connection. Along with celebrating positive change together, the event raised awareness of Alliance’s community service sites and spectrum of health promotion services. Photos by Kaitlyn Fudge/Alliance.

Alliance joins rally against Medicaid Cuts

On Wednesday, June 25, Alliance joined Amida Care and other partner organizations at a powerful rally opposing the federal government’s cuts to Medicaid programs. We know from decades of experience that investments in public health pay dividends in improving health outcomes and saving communities money by reducing emergency hospitalizations, incarceration, and more. Though the federal administration continues to cut these essential services, we are making our voices ring out for science and human dignity. Here is what Alliance continues to protect and advocate for:

  • Trans healthcare

  • HIV treatment, prevention, and care

  • Immigrant healthcare

  • Essential services and holistic care
