Welcome to The Future of
Peer Education.
Welcome to the Peer Training Institute.

As a new affiliate of Alliance, one of New York’s most respected community organizations, we’re building on 25 years of education and advocacy to pioneer a new kind of peer training.

With an approach that’s comprehensive, caring, and constructive, we’re giving New Yorkers the tools they need to succeed as a peer counselor.

Guided by our team of experts -- longtime peers themselves -- you’ll get guidance and training toward New York State Peer Certification. You take part in workshops on HIV trends and prevention and reducing risks for drug users, and are well schooled in recovery and self-esteem issues, as well as in presentation skills.

About PTI

An affiliate of Alliance in New York City, the Peer Training Institute (PTI) is an autonomous, peer-run organization.

PTI trainings, community education, referrals, and support services promote recovery, access to care, and improved health among low-income New Yorkers with substance use and/or mental health conditions, HIV, and other chronic illnesses.

PTI offers a 8-week Peer Training program designed to enhance the skills and knowledge needed for graduates to succeed in paid internships as Peer Navigators, bringing prevention information to communities at risk, and providing screening, enrollment, health promotion, linkage to care, accompaniment to appointments, motivational interviewing and navigation as members of care management teams.
