Alliance CASA Washington Heights Hosts Dominos Tournament

CASA Washington Heights hosted a Dominoes tournament on Friday, July 5th to give our participants a sense of community and engagement.

Dominoes is a popular and very loved game, in the Hispanic population. When in the heights, you will often see residents playing in groups in the streets. We plan to hold a tournament, once a month in the hopes of more clients participating, bringing a friend “potential clients” and having a safe space for clients to come enjoy a fun game within their peers in their community.

The winners received a $25 target card. Additionally, refreshments, snacks, and music contributions were made by each staff member.

Alliance co-hosts Matrimony-themed Kiki Ball on HIV Testing Day

On Thursday, June 27, Alliance hosted a Matrimony-themed Kiki Ball at Performance Space New York (right above our LLOC outreach center), and over 300 people came to attend or participate in the ball. Costumes and energy were amazing, and winners of the nearly 20 categories received large cash prizes.

The event took place on National HIV Testing Day, and Alliance, and our friends at Project STAY, conducted dozens of HIV and hep C tests. The ball featured performers from the houses of Marciano, Blue Baton, Moulin, Juicy Couture, Arizona, Berkin, Versacce, Telfar, and more.

Party for Stephen Carrington's Exoneration

Alliance's Assistant Manager of Counseling, Testing, and Referral, Stephen Carrington has maintained his innocence of a 1995 conviction of murder for almost 30 years, and was recently exonerated by a judge. Alliance has always stood by Stephen as he maintained his innocence, and held a special celebration for him shortly after the exoneration.
