Captain Condom makes appearance at Alliance's first men's wellness retreat & BBQ

Our first annual men's wellness retreat & BBQ on Tuesday June 13 brought men together to relax, eat great food, and try group-facilitated activities and conversation that promoted wellness. Topics included fatherhood. Captain Condom, Alliance’s non-gendered, multi-racial superhero promoting safer sex (who debuted last year) joined in the fun camaraderie.

Peer Training Cycle 60 Graduation

On Thursday, June 1, Alliance was proud to celebrate the graduates of our Peer training Cycle 60: Aekwon M, Anthony M, Aria S, Ben B, Blesida R, Carlton G, Cesar F, Clayton C, Damoun J, Delores K, Denise G, Gilberto P, Giordanni M, Ignacio H, Jamilee E, Jaye B, Jose V, Joshua M, Julius J, Kevin T, Lamont B, Mariam S, Marlyn CG, Melissa J, Roosevelt T, Sterling T, Terry W, Tyrone AC, and Xiomara M.

The ceremony was held at Alliance Midtown Central—for the first time since the start of the pandemic) and featured remarks from graduates, Alliance Peer trainers, Alliance CEO Sharen Duke, COO Brenda Starks-Ross, Anita Venkiteswaran, Vice Chair, Alliance Board of Directors, and Nancy Pandzic, of Avita Pharmacy, this graduation’s presenting sponsor.

Alliance’s LES Harm Reduction Center is visited weekly by hundreds of program participants accessing essential services like Narcan, fentanyl test strips, socks, blankets, safer smoking/boofing/snorting kits, and much more.
