Icahn School of Medicine Assembles Safer Sex Kits at Alliance

Always a backbone of Alliance’s work, we have reopened in-person volunteer opportunities, and on Wednesday, November 30, it was time to bring in the volunteer calvary. Faculty and students at IFH (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Family Medicine Residency Program) assembled over 150 safer sex kits at Alliance Midtown Central. Thank you, IFH!

World AIDS Day at Alliance

In commemoration of World AIDS Day, Alliance hosted a full day’s slate of events in-person and virtual. The day started with a reading of names, then a poets cafe, a coordinated red balloon release at multiple sites, a roundtable discussion of HIV, stigma, and culture, tabling, and testing at multiple sites.

Peer Training Cycle 59 Graduation

On Monday, November 28, Alliance was proud to celebrate the graduates of our Peer training Cycle 59: Carmen C., Crystal C., Davvillion F., James J., Jeanette W., Khadija H., Lee S., Lydia B., Malia S., Marvelyn B., Milton G., Nadege B., Nildi R. A., Rare-Pearl Paul M., and Wayne M.

The ceremony was held at The Door, and featured remarks from graduates, Alliance Peer trainers, Alliance CEO Sharen Duke, COO Brenda Starks-Ross, former Peer graduate and current staff member Jarius Oxendine, and Board Member Stephen Gass.

Thanksgiving Holiday Food Giveaway and Party

On Wednesday, November 16, Alliance staff hosted a Thanksgiving community event that served almost 200 clients. Our holiday parties are always a chance to celebrate community, provide on-site services, and fight hunger with thousands of pounds of healthy pantry goods, and turkeys.
