The Alliance is bringing awareness to overdose prevention ahead of International Overdose Awareness Day on Thursday, August 31. In 2016, New York City had 1,374 confirmed overdose deaths - a 46% increase from 2015. The Alliance is working to prevent future overdoses by offering free Naloxone training at the Lower East Side Harm Reduction Center (LESHRC).
Naloxone is a medication that reverses overdoses from opioids such as heroin and prescription painkillers. New Yorkers can get this free life-saving medication without prescription at many community-based organizations including LESHRC.
Free trainings on how to use Naloxone will be held at the Lower East Side Harm Reduction Center (25 Allen Street) at the following times:
- Saturday 8/12, 1:15 PM
- Tuesday 8/15, 6 PM
- Thursday 8/31, 2:30 PM
Trainings last approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
If you are interested in being trained, but cannot attend one of the times above, please call 212-226-6333 to make an appointment.
