Alliance Returns to Albany to Save Health Homes

Over 20 Alliance staff and program participants woke up well before dawn and drove to Albany again on Monday, February 27, to lobby against proposed cuts that would remove 70,000 participants from New York State Health Homes. Joined by providers like Harlem United, Argus Health, Housing Works, and many others, we spoke with over a dozen state legislators and their staffs about the importance of the intensive care management model that Health Homes provides. Alliance and Other Members of SNYSN Coalition Demand Carve-Out Repeal at Stonewall

Alliance was proud to join member organizations of Save NY’s Safety Net on Thursday, June 23 at the Stonewall Monument on Christopher street to demand that Governor Hochul repeal the Medicaid pharmacy benefit carve-out. The carve-out of the 340B Medicaid program was originally crafted by Governor Cuomo, and paused several times because of the immediate needs that COVID-19 presented. It will devastate community health clinics, HIV programs and their patients, so we’ve been demanding that Governor Hochul make good on her pledge to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2024, which depends on repealing this carve-out.

Also at the rally, our coalition spoke about the need for Governor Hochul and NYS elected officials to:

Support TGNCNB anti-discrimination requirements in NY schools

Sign the Transgender and Non-binary Wellness and Equity Fund bill

Sign the Gender Inclusive Ballot Act

We were proud to join LGBTQ+ TGNCNB groups and health care providers in the name of action!

Women's Wellness Day at CASA Washington Heights

The Women’s Wellness Day fair at Alliance CASA Washington Heights on Wednesday, May 25 was a smashing success. Over 70 new and existing program participants came to learn about services provided by Alliance and many other partners, including Assurance, Elite HHC, NYC Health + Hospitals, Avita Pharmacy, Ariva, African Services, and Select Health, which—among other services—provide quality housing referrals, free financial planning, mobile phones, health insurance information, blood pressure screenings, and at home Covid and HIV kits!

Of course Alliance on the Move was on site, and provided 22 Hep-C tests, 15 HIV tests, which Alliance LES Harm Reduction Center’s team provided 15 Narcan kits, 8 Fentanyl testing kits and 5 sniffing kits.

Dozens of women attending made beautiful tie dye shirts, received spa gifts, ate a fantastic barbecue lunch, and danced the afternoon away.
